MYOVIIA, type VIIa Notes

  • Detected in cilia from cochlear hair cells, olfactory neurons, kidney distal tubules, lung bronchi
  • Cofractionate with the axonemal fraction of retinal photoreceptors
  • IR most concentrated in the periphery of the transition zone of cilia
  • Found in actin-rich microvilli of different cell types
  • Not found in the axoneme of spermatozoon
  • Expressed by several cells which posses microvilli
    • microvilli of kidney proximal tubule
    • supporting cells of olfactory epithelium
    • lung bronchi
    • brush border of intestine
    • ectoplasmic specializations of testicular sertoli cells
  • Found in conjuction with other unconventional myosins
  • Only in photoreceptors are found to contain actin and cilia
